DAAD Scholarship for Master and PhD 2010/2011

The German Academic Exchange Service (DAAD) – Deutscher Akademischer Austausch Dienst – supports a range of postgraduate courses at German universities which aim at providing academically educated young professionals from Developing Countries with further specialized studies. The DAAD supports these selected programs with a certain quota of scholarships and with financial assistance for a special tutoring system. At the end of the course (programs run 12 to 36 months, depending on the particular institution) participants can obtain an internationally recognized Master’s or in some courses PhD degree.

Target group:

University teaching staff, researchers and professionals holding an academic degree and with at least two years of experience in the public or private institutions in the following areas:

* Economic Sciences / Business Administration/ Political Economics
* Development Co-operation
* Engineering and related sciences
* Mathematics
* Regional Planning
* Agricultural and Forest Sciences
* Environmental Sciences
* Public Health / Veterinary Medicine / Medicine
* Sociology and Education

Language of instruction:

German or English, depending on the degree course:

* Participants in postgraduate courses in which English is the language of instruction receive a scholarship for a two-month intensive German language course.

* Participants in postgraduate courses in which German or German/English is the language of instruction receive a scholarship for a six-month intensive German language course. Please note that the candidates must have certain German language certificate at the time of application.

Criteria for applying:

* Age limit: 36 years of age at the time of application (for some courses 32 years)
* Degree: Bachelor or Master
* GPA: min 2,75 for Master candidates and 3,00 for Doctoral candidates
* Work experience: at least two years after completing Bachelor degree.
* Language skill:
o For postgraduate courses held in English request an international TOEFL (minimum score: 550 paper based, 213 computer based, 80 internet based) or IELTS (band 6). Some courses may expect a different level. For detailed information see the website of the relevant course.
o For postgraduate courses held in German: please see the details on the course list. Certain level of German language exam may be required before admission to the course.

The British Chevening Awards General Information & Requirements

General

1. A prestigious programme funded by the British Government (Foreign and Commonwealth Office) and administered by the British Council.
2. Over 1000 scholarships awarded in Indonesia since 1984.
3. This year up to 35 full scholarships are offered for one year Master degrees.
4. Courses at various universities and professional institutions in the UK including courses in media, finance, economics, politics, law, management, engineering, gender, environment, democracy etc.
5. A very competitive scheme. Only the best applicants are invited for further test and interview.
6. Employees, employee’s relatives (or former employees who have left employment less than two years before) of the FCO (Foreign Commonwealth Office), including FCO posts, the British Council and the sponsor will not be eligible to apply for these awards.

Who can apply?

When to apply?

a.. Applications for 2010/11 Chevening Scholarships will open 1 Oct 2009 and close on 31 December 2009.
The next scheme will be advertised in the national and regional press.

The Selection process

b. Initial selection is based on the quality of the written application. You do not need to attach any documents with the application form.
c. Successful applicants will be notified and invited for an English test/interview in January 2008.
d. The English test and interviews will be held in Jakarta, Surabaya, Medan and Makassar.
e. The results of the interviews will be announced by letter.
f. Candidates achieving an IELTS score of at least 6.5, and who are accepted by a UK university for an appropriate subject (approved by the Embassy) will be awarded a full scholarship.
g. English language training is included as part of the scholarship (only if required). Candidates from outside Jakarta are supported during the period of the course.
h. Whilst undergoing English language training in Jakarta, candidates are briefed by British Embassy and British Council staff and are given guidance on course selection and application procedures.
i. The academic year in the UK commences in September/October. After completing the English courses (around May) candidates are normally advised to return to their employment. The British Council then keeps in touch with candidates about their departure arrangements. Further briefing on the departure arrangements is provided one month prior to departure.
j. The final number of scholarships granted is determined by the British Embassy.

The Key to Finding College Scholarships

What is the key to finding college scholarships? Know your sources. Higher education is expensive, but every year more and more money is given away to supplement that cost. A quick online search for “scholarships” reveals almost 66,000,000 keyword hits! Well, how do you narrows these down? There are many sources already planned and mapped out for you.

First, check out government online sources. The government alone will provide over $83 billion dollars in aid this year.

a. Ed.gov – The US Department of Education website has a wealth of knowledge regarding financial aid. Clicking on the “Student Financial Aid” link on the right menu bar will bring you the in depth articles discussing government money. You can learn how to apply for college aid, federal student aid, or federal loans here.
b. Students.gov – Not only can you find scholarships, but they lay out a full fledge college planning course. Information found here includes military programs ( G.I. Bill ) , career planning, and even state level funding articles.
c. Fafsa.ed.gov – Fafsa is the “Federal Application For Student Aid” This is the basic government requirement for federal aid. Here you are taught how to fill out the application as well how to follow up your application.

Government funding actually doesn’t have a lot of “red tape” to get the cash and the requirements are sometimes a great deal more relaxed that other sources.

Secondly, online search databases are a great place to find scholarship money. There are hundreds of them out there. A quick search for “scholarship search” will pull up more than enough to find good matches. Most of these sites will require in depth personal information down to your address, phone number, or high school. Make sure to check out their privacy policies to see how your information is handled. These search engines will match scholarships to you based on your given personal information. One slight drawback to this type of searching will be the advertising that you have to wade through. You are given to option to skip most ads so it is only mildly annoying. I will only try scholarships databases that are free. You should not be required to pay for this type of information.

Lastly, look around for corporate or business funding. Many corporate and business entities have a employee education program. Both parties have a stake in your education, so feel free to look around for your “ideal” job and find companies that match your ideal. Call them up and see if they offer some employment education incentives. Most companies will fund a portion of your higher education in exchange for so many years of dedicated service. Fortune 500 companies are more than willing to find tax write-offs in education.

Financial aid can be found almost anywhere. Get passionate and make funding your education a full time jobs for a couple weeks. Adopt a “Ain’t to proud to beg attitude” if you want to succeed.

The Public Affairs Section (PAS), U.S. Embassy Hanoi and Consulate General in Ho Chi Minh city are currently seeking candidates for the 2011 Global Undergraduate Exchange Program. First through third year undergraduate students who demonstrate leadership through academic work, community involvement and extracurricular activities and have a good command of English are invited to apply for the program. Program Description

Funded by the U.S. Department of State’s Bureau of Educational and Cultural Affairs, the Global Undergraduate Exchange Program provides scholarships for one semester or one academic year, enabling undergraduate students to study in a non-degree program at American universities. The goal of the program is to provide a diverse group of emerging student leaders with a substantive exchange experience at a U.S. college or university.

For the academic year 2011-12, the program will place approximately 90 students from countries in Asia at U.S. colleges and universities, starting in August 2011 or January 2012. Up to eight scholarships are available for Vietnamese students. Scholarships are for either one academic-year (approximately 10 months) or one semester (approximately five months). The length of the scholarship award will depend upon the student’s interests and availability, as well as placement options and availability of funds. In addition, participants will be eligible for two to four weeks of intensive English language instruction in the United States prior to the start of the academic portion of their program.

All Global Undergraduate Program participants will be enrolled full-time in undergraduate course work chosen from the host institution’s existing curriculum to allow them ample opportunity for interaction with U.S. faculty and student peers, and for exposure to U.S. academic and classroom culture. To ensure that students succeed in their new academic environments, host institutions will offer tailored instruction on topics including academic research and writing, critical thinking, time management, note-taking, and studying for and taking tests. Participants will live on-campus with American students.

Students will be provided with opportunities to participate in up to ten hours of community service activities per semester. Additionally, an internship component will be required for all academic-year participants during the academic component of the program. Internships will be related to each participant’s field of study and/or career plans.

Scholarships will be available in all academic fields of study.

Participants in this program must return to Vietnam upon completion of the program, and may not stay on for degree study in the United States at that time.

Candidate Qualifications

Competition will be based on the potential of the candidates to become student leaders through academic performance, community involvement and extracurricular activities, without regard to their field of study, race, religion, or gender. Competition is open to all applicants who:

v Are currently enrolled in an undergraduate degree program in Vietnam;
v Will have completed their first year of undergraduate study by August 2011;
v Must have at least one semester to complete at their universities in Vietnam upon the completion of the program in the U.S;
v Have a good knowledge of English with the minimum ITP TOEFL score of 550 (acceptable) or iBT TOEFL score of 80 (preferred); or IELTS score of 6.5 (acceptable).
v Achieved at least 7.5 GPA in the previous semester;
v Demonstrate strong leadership qualities through academic performance, community involvement and extracurricular activities.

USA UCLA Math Undergraduate Merit Scholarship 2011-2012

The UCLA Department of mathematics Undergraduate Merit Scholarship is awarded to an incoming freshman who has an exceptional background and promise in mathematics. The scholarship covers tuition, fees as well as room and board. It is anticipated that one new scholarship be awarded every year, starting in Fall 2010.

The scholarship.

The award is renewable for four years, subject to the following requirements:

• Maintain satisfactory and timely academic progress towards their degree and remain in good academic standing.

• Maintain at least a 3.5 GPA in mathematics courses

• Declare a mathematics major upon admission and remain in the major

• Pass the basic exam by the end of their third year of studies

• To continue their scholarship for the fourth year, the applicants must apply and be accepted into the Departmental Scholars Program, which leads to a simultaneous Bachelors (BS) and Masters (MA) degrees.

Scholarship recipients follow a specialized advanced program of studies, including individual study with UCLA Mathematics professors.

This program enables students from five ASEAN countries (Thailand, Indonesia, Malaysia, the Philippines, and Vietnam) wishing to enroll in a master’s course (major in one of the sciences) at the University of Tokyo, to secure scholarships before their arrival in Japan. It aims to cultivate individuals capable of leading Asia in the twenty-first century and to contribute to the development of Asia and the world as well as to mutual understanding between these countries and Japan.

Eligibility

Applicants who wish to enroll in a master’s course and major in one of the sciences (except medicine and veterinary medicine) at the University of Tokyo and who fulfill the following requirements and qualifications.

1. Applicants must be citizens of Thailand, Indonesia, Malaysia, the Philippines, or Vietnam.
2. Applicants must have graduated or be expected to graduate with an excellent academic record – GPA at least 3.20 (with 16 years of 2. the recommendation of their university president or academic advisor or be otherwise qualified to enroll in the University of Tokyo.
3. Applicants must be under the age of 35 on April 1, 2011.
4. In principle, the applicant must be able to obtain approval of acceptance as a Postgraduate International Research Student (hereinafter “Research Student”), from the University of Tokyo and be registered as a Research Student for April 2011 or October 2011.
However, the applicant may enroll directly as a master’s course student of some graduate schools in the University of Tokyo.. In that case, the applicant must be able to obtain approval of enrollment from the University of Tokyo and be registered as a master’s course student for Apr 2011 or Oct 2011.
5. Applicants must have adequate Japanese language proficiency to study as a master’s course student of the University of Tokyo (Japanese Language Proficiency Test Level 1 or equivalent). Applicants must be able to pass at least Level 3 of the Japanese Language Proficiency Test (hereinafter “JLPT”) in a test administered no later than December 2010 (candidates wishing to enter as a master’s course student) or December 2011 (candidates wishing to enter as a Research Student). However, applicants who wish to enroll in Information, Technology, and Society in Asia course (hereinafter “ITASIA”)” of Graduate School of Interdisciplinary Information Studies does not require above Japanese language proficiency.
6. Applicants must apply from the above 5 countries and be able to attend selection procedures when necessary.
7. Applicants must be in good physical and mental health and have a strong motivation for learning.
8. Applicants must not be receiving other scholarships.

Scholarship Amounts

* a) Research Student at graduate school: ¥150,000/month (for max. 1 year)
* b) Master’s course at graduate school: ¥180,000/month (for max. 2 years)
* c) Examination, Admission and Tuition fees: covered in full
* d) Airfare (to and from Japan): covered up approximately to ¥200,000 (equivalent amount for economy class ticket. Actual amount in principle)

Period of Scholarships

Scholarships will be provided for max. 3 years, 1 year studying as a Research Student and max. 2 years studying in a master’s course. The scholarship will be suspended if the scholarship recipient fails to pass the entrance exam for a master’s course within a year after arriving to Japan if the recipient enters as a Research Student.

If the recipient enters as a master’s course student, scholarships will be provided for max. 2 years.

Selection Process

1st Screening and 2nd Screening
All the screening will be based on the received documents, such as research activities and study plans, university transcript and the letter of recommendation.

For 2nd Screening, additional submission of necessary documents (TOEFL etc. See appendix ２) for applying to preferred graduate schools and graduation or degree certificate may be requested.

Note: An interview will be held for 2nd selection (in English or in Japanese)

Suspension or Termination of Scholarship

The scholarship will be suspended or terminated immediately, and claim the partial or full refund of the scholarship amount if any one of the following conditions applies to the scholarship recipient:

* a) False information found in the application form.
* b) Receives any other scholarship.
* c) Fails to pass the entrance examination to a University of Tokyo master’s course within one year after arriving to Japan (recipient who enters as a Research Student).
* d) Fails to pass at least JLPT level 3 in a test administered no later than December 2010 (recipient wishing to enter as a master’s course student).
Fails to pass at least JLPT level 3 in a test administered no later than December 2011 (recipient wishing to enter as a Research Student).
* e) Fails to arrive in Japan by the appointed date.
* f) Shows poor academic performance due to absence, lack of desire to study or being unable to keep up research for some reason.
* g) Has difficulty continuing to study due to illness or other health problems.
* h) Violates the rules and regulations of the University of Tokyo or the Ajinomoto Scholarship Foundation.

Note:
The nominated applicants who had passed the 2nd screening must compile all the necessary documents for applying to University of Tokyo, assigned by each graduate school (refer appendix 2 “Documents for 2nd Screening and Required documents for applying as a Postgraduate International Research Student to the University of Tokyo”. The accomplished documents are reviewed by faculty council. For the applicants who are requested to enroll in April, the letter of acceptance will be issued in Jan, 2011. Ministry of Education, Culture, Sports, Science, and Technology offers
scholarships to international students who wish to study at Japanese universities as
research students under the Japanese Government Scholarship Program for
2011 as follows:

1.FIELDS OF STUDY
Fields of study must be subjects which applicants will be able to study and research at
Japanese universities.
Keep in mind, however, that a student who majors in medicine, dentistry or welfare
science will not be allowed to engage in clinical training such as medical care and
operative surgery until he/she obtains a permit from the Minister of Health, Labour
and Welfare under applicable Japanese laws. Majors in traditional entertainment such
as Kabuki and classical Japanese dances, or in subjects that seek practical training in
specific technologies or techniques at factories or companies are excluded.
2.QUALIFICATIONS

1.Nationality:
Applicant must have the nationality of a country which has diplomatic relations with
the Japanese government. This applies at such times to stateless persons, too.
Applicant who has Japanese nationality at the time of application will not be eligible.
Applicant screening will be made at the Japanese Embassy/Consulate
Generalhereinafter referred to as the “Japanese legation”） in the country of
Applicant’s nationality except where two or more countries are attended by the same
Japanese Embassy/Consulate General.
2.Age:
Applicant must have been born on or after April 2,1976.
3. Academic Background:
Applicant must be a graduate from a Japanese university or have academic ability
equal or superior to that of a Japanese university graduate. A person will be deemed
to have academic ability equal or superior to that of a university graduate, if he/she
[1] has completed or will complete a 16-year school curriculum in a foreign country
or an 18-year school curriculum if he/she desires to enroll in a doctoral course in the
field of medicine, dentistry or veterinary science, or pharmacy which is founded on a 6
-year department or faculty; or
[2] is or will be aged 22 or older and has taken an individual entrance qualification
examination and has been judged by a graduate school as being equal or superior in
academic ability to a university graduate or 24 or older if he/she desires to enroll in a
doctoral course in the field of medicine, dentistry or veterinary science, or pharmacy
which is founded on a 6-year department or faculty.
Note: Eligible applicants include those who otherwise satisfy or will satisfy qualification
requirements for admission to a Japanese graduate school. As a general rule, a person
who has completed a doctoral course may not apply unless he/she seeks to obtain a
degree.

4Major Field of Study:
Applicant should apply for the field of study he/she studied at the previous university
or any related field. Applicant must choose a field on which he/she can receive
education and perform research at the university of his/her choice.
5Japanese Language:
Applicant must be willing to learn the Japanese language, interested in Japan and
enthusiastic about deepening his/her understanding of Japan after arriving, and
capable of engaging in study and research while adapting himself/herself to life in
Japan.
6Health:
Applicant must be physically and mentally healthy enough to pursue study at
university.
7.Arrival in Japan:
Applicant must be able to leave for and arrive in Japan between the 1st and 7th of
April 2011, or within two weeks of the date set by the receiving university for the
beginning of the semester in principle, in September or October. Travel expenses
will not be provided if the Applicant chooses to travel to Japan before this set period.
8.Visa Requirement:
Selected Applicants must obtain a College Student ryuugaku visa prior to his
arrival in Japan. Applicants who are already in Japan under a visa other than College
Student are required to change it to College Student by the end of the month
preceding the start of the scholarship. Applicants who change their resident status to
any status other than “College Student” after their arrival in Japan will immediately
lose their status as a Japanese government scholarship student.
9. Any applicant who meets any or all of the following conditions is not eligible. If
identified after the start of the scholarship period, the applicant will be required to
withdraw from the scholarship:
1: The Applicant is an active member of the military or a civilian employed by the
military at the time the scholarship period is due to begin.
2: The Applicant is unable to travel to Japan within the dates set by the receiving
university
3: If the Applicant was a grantee of a Japanese Government Scholarship in the past.
Unless he/she has had at least three years of research or teaching experience
between the completion of the first scholarship and the start of the second
scholarship period. This exclusion will not apply to a research-student applicant, who
i as an international student in Japan received training in Japanese studies at a
university but graduated from his/her home university, or who ii was an international
student in Japan under the Japan-Korea Joint Government Scholarship Program for
the Students in Science and Engineering Departments.
4: The Applicant is currently enrolled in a Japanese university under the resident
status of “College Student,” or if he/she plans to enroll at a Japanese university as a
privately-financed international student between the time of application for this
scholarship and the time the scholarship period is due to begin.
5: The Applicant is already the recipient of a scholarship from an organization
including a governmental organization in his/her country of origin） other than the
Japanese government （Ministry of Education, Culture, Sports, Science and Technology.
6: The Applicant, considered a “future graduate” and selected as such, is unable to
graduate within the pre-set date or unable to fulfill graduation requirements.
3.TERM OF SCHOLARSHIP
The term of scholarship will differ as follows depending on the course a grantee takes
in Japan:
1 In a case where Grantee will enroll as a research student, non-degree student, or
auditor, etc. hereinafter referred to as “Research Student” after coming to Japan:
[1] If Grantee comes to Japan in April 2011, his/her scholarship will be payable for 24
months from April 2011 through March 2013;
[2] If Grantee comes to Japan in October 2011, his/her scholarship will be payable for
18 months from October 2011 through March2013.
In either case, the above-mentioned term of scholarship includes a 6-month
Japanese language training period for grantees who require such training

The Australian Leadership Awards (ALA) aim to develop leadership and build partnerships and linkages within the Asia-Pacific, while addressing priority development issues of the region.

The ALA program comprises ALA Scholarships and ALA Fellowships. These awards are for leaders or those who have potential for leadership roles that can influence social and economic reform, both in their own countries and in the Asia-Pacific region.

ALA Scholarships are for study at Masters or Doctorate level in an Australian university. Study programs must relate to a priority development area: disability, economic growth, education, environment, food security, gender, governance, health, human rights, infrastructure, regional stability, rural development, water and sanitation. ALA scholars also undertake a Leadership Development Program in Australia.

As ALA Scholarships are an investment in the future of the Asia-Pacific region, ALA scholars are required to return to their home country or the region for two years after they have completed their studies in Australia.

Selection for ALA Scholarships is competitive, based on leadership qualities, academic excellence and potential impact on return home.

PhD Scholarship in Water Optimization, Australia

The University of Ballarat (UB) is offering a unique opportunity for a
research student to undertake PhD studies in water optimization,
as part of a recently awarded Australian Research Council (ARC) Linkage Grant with
industry partner Grampians Wimmera Mallee Water (GWMWater).

GWMWater is a leading water corporation covering almost a quarter of
Victoria.s land mass, which includes the driest areas in the State.
GWMWater is a progressive company with a strong history of working with
research organisations to find better ways to manage the State’s water
resources.

The student will work with Chief Investigators (CIs) Dr Adil Bagirov and
Professor John Yearwood – UB and Professor Bill Moran – University of
Melbourne, on this project titled “Integrating dynamic and optimization
models for efficient pipeline system operations in an evolving water and
energy market”. The PhD student will specifically focus on the development
of the optimization model, and provide the evaluation of solutions from
the integrated model.

This APAI scholarship covers tuition fees at the University of Ballarat,
plus a fortnightly tax-free stipend totaling AUD$26,140 per year for three
years. The student will be based in the Graduate School of Information
Technology & Mathematical Sciences at UB.s Mt Helen Campus in Ballarat.

The Asian Development – Japan Scholarship Program (ADB-JSP) offers opportunities to talented individuals from its developing member countries to pursue postgraduate studies. This scholarship is funded by the Government of Japan.

To be eligible to apply for the ADB-JSP, candidates must receive an unconditional offer from one of the following programs at the University of Sydney:

The Asian Development Bank – Japan Scholarship Program
The Asian Development Bank-Japan Scholarship Program (ADB-JSP) was established in April 1988 with financing from the Government of Japan. The objective of the program is to provide an opportunity for well qualified citizens of the Bank’s Developing Member Countries (DMCs) to undertake postgraduate studies which will assist the economic and social development of their countries.

Who is eligible?
Citizens of developing member countries of the Bank (see olarship_program.shtml#sel”>list and selection criteria below) who have a minimum of two years’ working experience and who are eligible for admission to the following degree programs at the University of Sydney:

Scholarships are awarded, each year, as vacancies arise following completion of studies or withdrawal of scholars. Less than three ADB-JSP scholarships may be awarded in each round of application.

Competition for an ADB-JSP scholarship is extremely strong. Only candidates who receive an unconditional offer of admission will be considered for the ADB-JSP scholarship.

THE JAPANESE GOVERNMENT (MONBUKAGAKUSHO:MEXT) SCHOLARSHIPS 2009
Undergraduate & Postgraduate

The Embassy of Japan is pleased to announce that the Japanese Government
(Monbukagakusho:MEXT) Scholarships for the academic year 2009 is open for application from 17th
March to 11th April 2008. Malaysian nationals who would like to pursue their studies in Japan are
invited to apply for the scholarship. During the term of the scholarship, monthly allowances of
approximately 134,000 yen (approx RM4,288) will be given to undergraduate grantee and 172,000
yen (approx RM5,504) to postgraduate grantee (amount are subject to change). Fees of the entrance
examination, matriculation and tuition at universities will be exempted. A round-trip airplane ticket
is also provided.

There are two (2) categories available under the scholarships:

1. Undergraduate (5 ~ 7 years bachelor degree course from April 2009)
a) Applicants must be between 17 and 22 years of age of 1st April 2009 (i.e. born between
2nd April 1987 and 1st April 1992)
b) Applicants must have completed SPM or O-Level with at least 11 years of formal
education (EXCLUDING REMOVE CLASS). STPM students (lower/upper) and those who
will sit for A-Level, UEC, Matriculation or Diploma examination this year may also apply
(provided the results will be known by March 2009).
c) Applicants must have good command of English with excellent result in other major
subjects.

2. Postgraduate (1 & 1/2 or 2 years course from April or October 2009)
a) Applicants must be under 35 years of age as of 1st April 2009 (i.e. born on or after 2nd
April 1974)
b) Applicants must be a degree holder (ideally a 1st or 2nd Class Upper Honours Degree)
with 16 years of formal education (EXCLUDING REMOVE CLASS). Undergraduates who
are in the final year at their respective universities are eligible to apply.

Applicants for postgraduate, who are MALAYSIAN CIVIL SERVANTS, must apply through
the Public Service Department of Malaysia (PSD). For further details, please contact PSD

Application forms for Undergraduate and Postgraduate can be collected from the Embassy of

Australian Scholarship 2009 For Indonesian

Scholarships have played a significant role in Australia's development cooperation program in Indonesia, with around 11,000 scholarships provided over more than 50 years. ADS continues to be a major component of the program with up to 300 scholarships offered in 2009.

The off-shore component of the ADS Program is managed by IDP through an IDP established ADS Project Office in Jakarta to ensure efficient end effective administration of the ADS scheme in Indonesia.

Each year, the Australian Government sponsors people from a number of developing countries to study in Australia through Australian Development Scholarships (ADS). The Australian Development Scholarship program in Indonesia aims to promote private and public sector human resource development in areas of agreed development priority.
This is achieved by providing post-graduate scholarships for Indonesians to study in Australia and by working in close cooperation with the Indonesian Government to deliver a program which is flexible to Indonesia's human resource development needs.

Consistent with the principles of AusAID's education and training policy (August 1996), the ADS program is implemented to ensure : quality (of project personnel, fellows and procedures); transparency (of selection); equity and merit (in the awarding of fellowships); access (of beneficiaries to scholarship documentation and information); and consistency (in award administration).

The Norwegian Government, through the International Scholarship Section (IS) of The Research Council of Norway, offers a pool of scholarships for advanced students and young researchers for the academic year 2008/2009.

The Norwegian Government offers, through the Research Council of Norway, scholarships to nationals of 24 countries in order to support a temporary stay in Norway of up to one academic year.

Purpose
The Norwegian Government scholarships promote contact and mobility between students and researchers at institutions of higher education and research. The scholarships are open to all areas of academic studies and research, including applied and performing arts.

Scholarships are valid at accredited Norwegian universities, research institutes, university colleges and other institutions at university level.

The scholarships are aimed primarily at students who are enrolled in a degree programme in their home country and wish to conduct a stay in Norway as an integral part of their studies as well as post docs and younger researchers who wish to conduct research in Norway.

The Hitachi Scholarship Foundation offers postgraduate scholarship awards to faculty members of the universities in Southeast Asian countries who intend to study at Japanese graduate schools as full-time students for Master`s or Doctoral Course in the field of science and technology under the following conditions.

Term of Scholarship

a. For Master`s Course
Two and half years including half a year for the study of Japanese language prior to commencement of the Master`s Course
b. For Doctoral Course
Three and half years including half a year for the study of Japanese language prior to commencement of the Doctoral Course

Contents of Scholarship
The Foundation will support the following costs and expenses.

a. Travel expenses
Economy class round-trip airfare between the nearest airport of the grantee’s university and the airport in Japan and the travel expenses between the airport in Japan and the place of grantee’s research affiliation. Only the return fare will be given to the grantee if he/she is already in Japan
b. Arrival and return allowance: ¥50,000 each
Only the return allowance will be given to the grantee if he/she is already in Japan.
c. Stipend: ¥180,000 a month
d. Housing allowance (at cost but maximum amount per month)

Greater Metropolitan Tokyo — ¥60,000-¥90,000

a. Eligibility and qualification of applicants Only the faculty members, who satisfy the following conditions, of the universities invited by the Foundation will be accepted as applicants.
b. For Master`s Course
1. Bachelor`s degree holder who wishes to obtain Master’s degree in the field of science and technology at a Japanese graduate school
2. Below 30 years of age
3. Firm position or profession in the university
c. For Doctoral Course
1. Master`s degree holder (or the faculty member who is expected to obtain Master`s degree before the start of proposed Doctoral Course) who wishes to obtain Ph.D. in the field of science and technology at a Japanese graduate school
2. Below 35 years of age
3. Firm position or profession in the university

Application procedure
Application shall be endorsed by the President’s office of the university to which the Foundation has offered the scholarship award and submitted to the following address through the said office by November 30, 2006 using the registered mail. Neither personal nor direct application to the Foundation is accepted.

Method of selection
a. Preliminary selection
The Selection Committee of the Foundation will conduct preliminary selection based on the application documents.
b. Interview
The preliminary-selected applicants will be interviewed by the representative(s) of the Selection Committee of the Foundation at their universities.
c. Final selection
The Selection Committee of the Foundation will make final selection after the interview. Award will become effective when the admission of the selected applicant to his/her intended Japanese graduate school has been confirmed.

Criteria of selection
o Support by the senior management of the applicant`s university in relation to their human development program
o Academic exchange program between the applicant`s university and the proposed graduate school in Japan
o Academic performance and achievement by the applicant
o Potentiality of the applicant
o Motivation to study in Japan
o Proposed plan of study
o Academic necessity of the applicant to undertake his/her study and research at the graduate school in Japan
o Communication skill * As the foreign students who conduct their graduate studies and research in the field of science and technology in Japan are normally required to submit their thesis in English unless they have enough Japanese language proficiency, proficiency of English language above 530 points of TOEFL (Test of English as a Foreign Language) is preferred.

The applicant`s health and general aptitude for the environmental conditions of academic and social life in Japan.

Schedule of selection

End of November Deadline to submit application

December - January Preliminary selection based on the application documents

February - March Interview of pre-selected applicants at their universities

April - May Final selection

* The result of selection will be informed to the applicant through the President`s office of the applicant’s university in June 2007.
End of September Departure for Japan (finally selected applicants only)

* The finally selected applicants are requested to attend the orientation in Tokyo at the end of September 2007 and shall start their studies and research at the graduate school, or Japanese language school if necessary, from October 2007 in accordance with the instruction by their enrolled graduate school.

Preparation for Entry to Japan
The finally selected applicants are required to submit the following to the Foundation to obtain the Certificate of Eligibility. It usually takes one (1) month to obtain this certificate and this certificate is necessary to obtain a valid entry visa from a Japanese embassy or consulate before coming to Japan.

1. A copy of passport
2. Thee (3) copies of the photograph with 3cm x 4cm
3. Record of past entry into / stay in Japan (including number of times of entry)
4. Admission to Graduate School

The finally selected applicants are requested to make arrangement for enrollment at their intended Japanese graduate schools by themselves. They are generally admitted at first as non-degree students, i.e. research students of the graduate schools, and required to pass the entrance examination of their intended graduate schools.

Accommodation
The grantee is responsible for finding his/her own accommodation.
As some graduate schools have their own accommodations, it is recommended to inquire the host scientist about their availability.

The Foundation will make financial support for

1. Key money, if any
2. Agency commission, if any
3. Expenses to purchase room lights, curtain and electric/gas table, if not furnished
4. Restoration fee, if any, at the time of vacating a room (normal wear and tear only)

The grantee is responsible for the payment of
1) Deposit which is to be returned later
2) Property and fire insurance

Bank Account
The grantee is requested to open an account at a Japanese bank upon his/her arrival and inform the Foundation of the bank account details sending a copy of bankbook.

Alien Registration
The grantee is required to file application for alien registration within ninety (90) days from the date of arrival in Japan at the municipal or ward office where the grantee resides.

Liaison
The grantee should keep in close contact with the Foundation and keep them informed of any change of his/her address or other pertinent matters.

Report
The grantee is required to submit to the head and/or dean of the faculty of his/her university in home country a progress report of his/her research and other activities every two months with a copy to the host scientist and the Foundation. When his/her research is presented for publication or dissemination, the Foundation`s support should be acknowledged in an appropriate way. A copy of such publication or offprint is requested to be sent to the Foundation.

Insurance
The Foundation will buy the following insurance for the period from the date of the grantee’s departure from his/her home country until the date he/she is admitted as a student of the graduate school or until the date he/she arranges similar insurance whichever comes earlier. The grantee is required to arrange such insurance with the graduate school by himself/herself after he/she is admitted as a student. Illness contracted before the grantee`s arrival in Japan, chronic disease and dental care will not be covered by the insurance to be bought by the Foundation.

1) Death from injury: 15 million
2) Treatment of injury: Up to 2 million
3) Death from illness: 2 million
4) Treatment of illness: Up to 2 million

Japanese Language
It is important for foreign students to know and understand Japanese language to such an extent that they can pursue their study and research at the graduate school and spend social life in Japan. Some Japanese graduate schools require Japanese language proficiency to a certain level. The Foundation will, therefore, support the grantees for their study of Japanese language as described in Clause 1 and Clause 2.

Compliance with Laws and Regulations
The grantee must abide by the laws and regulations of Japan.

Suspension or Termination of the Scholarship
The grantees of the Hitachi Scholarship Award are expected to devote themselves full-time to their studies and research described in their applications and any employment in Japan during the term of the scholarship may not be accepted. The scholarship will be suspended or terminated if the Foundation judges that the foregoing terms and conditions are not observed in good faith or in the following cases:
o When it becomes impossible to continue study or research because of illness or other reasons
o Poor result of study record
o Misconduct

The University offers scholarships for Indonesian students of high academic standing commencing their studies at the University of Bedfordshire.

To be eligible for the International Scholarships, applicants must be an Indonesian national or permanently domiciled in Indonesia, must have applied for a course of study and hold an unconditional offer for a course at the University of Bedfordshire.

The International Scholarships are awarded on the basis of academic merit.

3. Visas: A student (F-1) visa is required for all non-U.S. citizens or permanent resident aliens who intend to study in the United States. Applications for student visas may be made at the U.S. Embassy in Jakarta and at the Consulate in Surabaya.

The Embassy strives to provide courteous and efficient service to all visa applicants. The vast majority of student visa applications are approved. Passports and visas for students whose applications have been approved may be picked up on the following working day.

Each applicant must demonstrate his or her eligibility for a visa under United States immigration law. Most students traveling to the U.S. for the first time must be interviewed by a consular office. Interviews for returning students are generally brief. Students should be prepared to provide evidence of their academic qualifications and intention to depart the United States at the conclusion of their studies. Because a large number of students seek visas during the months August and September, all students should come prepared with appropriate supporting documentation when applying, namely:

A. Form I-20, Evidence of Admission of a Foreign Student, issued by the U.S. educational institutions. This form must be current and properly endorsed by an authorized school official.

B. Original SMA diploma and/or university transcripts.

C. TOEFL or other test score results, if applicable.

D. Evidence that personal or family funds exist sufficient to pay for a full course of study in the U.S., such as bank drafts, travelers checks, bank account balance statements, bank transfer receipts or receipts for tuition payments. This list is not exhaustive, and a combination of more than one type of evidence may be necessary. Cash is not acceptable evidence of financial resources.

E. For returning students, evidence of valid student status, such as grade reports or transcripts, showing that they have been enrolled as full-time students. U.S. immigration law requires that student visa holders maintain their students status by undertaking a full course of study. While consular officers are sensitive to the difficulties of study in a foreign language and the adjustments that must be made to life abroad, students who fail to maintain a full course load or who spend an inordinate period of time in the United States without completing the requirements for a degree may encounter difficulties in establishing bona fide student status in subsequent applications for student visas.

Also, each applicant is required to pay a non-refundable application fee in Rupiah, equivalent to USD 100. Please note that eligible applicants cannot be issued visas no more than 90 days before the date of entry stipulated on I-20 form. Also, incomplete applications must be denied. Students whose applications are refused because of lack of documentation will be asked to return with appropriate documentation..

Swiss Scholarships for Foreign Students

The Swiss Government through the Federal Commission for Scholarships for Foreign Students (FCS) grants a limited number of scholarships to developing countries, among which Indonesia is included. These scholarships are offered to Indonesian POSTGRADUATE students wishing to study at a Swiss university. The aim of the scholarship is to enable grantees either to further their education or to undertake research work in the fields in which the universities are particularly active. The intended study should be useful for the development in Indonesia. In principle, the scholarship holders can study at any national Swiss university or Federal Institute of Technology. The candidates should take into account the possibilities offered by Swiss universities.

Following programs are not included in this scholarship:
1. Fine arts and music
2. Undergraduate studies
3. Hotel management studies
4. Student exchange programs
5. Part-time studies
6. On-the-job studies
7. Correspondence studies

The duration of grant is for nine-month academic year. Under certain conditions, which are justified by FCS and the related university, the scholarship may be renewed.

CONDITIONS

1. Indonesian citizen

2. University degree ( min. Sarjana Strata-1 or equivalent)

3. Candidates must be under 35 years old when applying

4. Sufficient knowledge of one of the official languages in Switzerland (i.e. German, French or Italian), depending on the location of chosen university, and English for some courses. Each candidates will have to undergo a language test at the Swiss Embassy in Jakarta in order to determine the oral and written language ability. Note: It is a general requirement that applicants must have proficient knowledge of one of the official languages spoken in Switzerland. In principle this requirement still applies to applicants with good English abilities and also if the intended study program will be held in English. The applicant should fully benefit from the offered scholarship. Without knowledge of one of the national languages it will be difficult to handle daily situations (foreign police, post office, bank, university life, etc). A qualified applicant whose language proficiency is considered inadequate may still be granted a scholarship. This, however, will be subject to the applicant’s attendance of a special three months’ intensive language course at the University of Fribourg. The FCS will also cover the expenses for these courses, which usually start in mid-July.

5. Acceptance letter from the chosen university. Before applying the candidates need to contact the professor or director of the postgraduate program at the chosen educational institution in order to get a written confirmation of acceptance which must be submitted when filing the application. The request of the acceptance letter must be completed with a detailed and precise plan of the intended postgraduate study program, curriculum vitae and certified copies of the university diplomas (including transcripts). A certified translation is required if the originals are not issued in English, German, French or Italian.

6. Detailed study/research plan describing clearly and precisely the aim of study. The possibilities offered by the Swiss universities should be taken into account, also the possibilities of professional reintegration when returning to Indonesia

Please note that only applicants who fulfil the above mentioned requirements can obtain scholarship application forms. The application forms are available in June/July of the application year and will be sent only by post. To obtain the forms, the applicants should send a brief request letter which includes this following data and document:

1. Complete name
2. Date of birth
3. Language. Please mention one the official languages in Switzerland which you speak fluently (German, French or Italian, depending on the location of the chosen university).
4. Written confirmation from professor/university in Switzerland (by e-mail or fax) stating that your study plan is accepted and that you meet requirements and own a suitable academic background to be accepted as a student. In order to obtain this confirmation please contact directly the university (please take a look at the list of Swiss universities on the web site).

Photocopies of any documents such as general certificates of secondary education, university diplomas and transcripts, language certificates, etc. have to be certified as true copies. Certified translations into either English, German, French or Italian have to be attached to those documents which are not originally issued in one of these languages.

Please note that only complete and orderly prepared application files will be taken into consideration. If all requirements are fulfilled, the applicant then will be invited to the Embassy to take a written and oral language test, as well as a short personal interview. In May 2006, the Federal Commission for Scholarships for Foreign Students (FCS) will announce the accepted candidates.

SCHOLARSHIP AMOUNT

CHF 1.820,- for post-graduate students
CHF 4.500,- for the three-months language course in Fribourg

Please note that the scholarship recipients are exempt from the general semester fees but NOT for certain postgraduate courses as for example MBA-programms (which can reach thousands of CHF). The grant covers only living expenses in Switzerland.

TRAVEL EXPENSES AND INSURANCE

Recipients from Indonesia pay their own travel expenses to Switzerland, but the Federal Commission for Scholarships for Foreign Students (FCS) pays the return ticket (except for familiy members). The return travel will not be offered if grantees extend their stay in Switzerland beyond six months after completion of their studies, or if they take up employment or move to a third country.

Health insurance (except for dental care) and accident insurance are provided.

OBLIGATIONS OF A SCHOLARSHIP HOLDER

Scholarship holders must live in Switzerland at the study place and must comply with the laws concerning the residence of foreigners in Switzerland and the university regulations. The scholarship holders cannot take family members to Switzerland in the first year of study but they may visit Switzerland on their own costs as a tourist.

When accepting the scholarship, candidates may have to give their written agreement to return to Indonesia after completion of the scholarship in Switzerland.

Scholarships of the FCS cannot be cumulated with other scholarships. If the scholarship holders have another scholarship or another financial support (salary), they are not entitled to be granted a Swiss scholarship.

nursing scholarship

There are many scholarships available to any and all people that are going into the nursing profession. Some people don't want to take the time to find out about scholarships for nursing school. Many believe that the monies that they receive from financial aid will be sufficient. Indeed, sometimes it is, that is if you also take the student loans that eventually have to be paid back.

The payback period usually begins approximately six months following graduation from nursing school. But be careful, if you drop out of nursing school for any reason, and do not apply for a hardship extension, you will be liable to begin paying back the student loan, in spite of your circumstances. With scholarships, you do not have to pay them back, period! This is true even if you have to drop out of nursing school for a short period of time. There is another false hood that is widely accepted. That is, that one has to have a 3.0 grade point average or greater to be eligible to apply for a nursing school scholarship. Not true.

There are many factors that allow an individual to apply for a nursing school scholarship. Maybe your are a single mother living on government aid, there is a scholarship for you. Maybe you are of a low income bracket and have a particular ethnicity, there is a nursing school scholarship for you, maybe you just live in an area that is considered economically challenged, there is a nursing school scholarship for you. The list goes on and on.

Where do you begin to find out if there is a nursing scholarship available for you. Other than the internet, the best other place to begin is in your home town, at your place of worship, your place of employment and the schools that offer a nursing program. You will be surprised to find that there are scholarships out there just for being you! Many places of employment or large companies have foundations and wealthy founders that put monies into funds for scholarships. Maybe your parents worked at a company for most of their lives that now makes you eligible to obtain a scholarship. Automotive company founders offer scholarships. Even large supermarket chains offer scholarships for nursing school.

The main idea behind scholarships is to promote education in the community. So don't ever feel that you are left out in the cold. It might be that you may run into a counselor that may not seem to have the time to do any research for you, but don't let that discourage you. Sometimes when you are going after something that you really want, like a career in the nursing field, you have to take the reigns and be assertive. That means finding someone to help you, if someone else won't.

The point is, that there are people that are hired to help you find the scholarships for nursing school that best fit your needs. That does not mean that you shouldn't do your own research as well. The chances of you finding some other scholarships for nursing school in addition to those found for you can only help not hurt.

Scholarship From Darmasiswa

DARMASISWA is a scholarship program offered to all foreign students from countries with which Indonesia has friendly relations, to study Indonesian language, arts, music and crafts. Participant can choose to study at any universities and colleges participating in the program.

The main purpose of the Darmasiswa program is to arouse and foster interest in the language and culture of Indonesia among citizens of friendly countries. It has also been designed to reciprocate scholarship programs provided by other countries for Indonesian citizens and provide stronger cultural links with these nations.

The DARMASISWA program is essentially a "non-degree" program undertaken within or less than a year. The participants are prohibited from engaging in any political and/or business activities which may result in destabilizing government programs or lead to personal profit/gain.

Darmasiswa RI Program offered with 3 schemes, i.e :

--= QUALIFICATIONS OF PARTICIPANTS (Darmasiswa RI Reguler and Darmasiswa RI Plus Programs) =--

The applicants for the DARMASISWA Scholarship of the Republic of Indonesia should meet the following qualifications:

1. not more than 35 years age.
2. Have completed Secondary Education or its equivalent.
3. Have a basic knowledge of the field they are applying for.
4. Have filled in the Application Form provided by the Ministry of National Education (MONE) through the Indonesian Attaché/Embassy in their countries of residence. The said form should be accompanied by three (3) copies of the applicants' latest passport photo.
5. In good health as evidenced by a Medical Certificate duly signed by a doctor from their countries of residence and the Medical Examination Form provided by the MONE through the Indonesian Attache/Embassy in the applicants' countries of residence.
6. Submit their application documents to the Indonesian Attaché/Embassy in their countries of residence.
7. Submit five (5) copies of their latest passport photo of 2 x 3 cm and 4 x 6 cm to the MONE upon arrival in Indonesia.
8. Submit a photocopy of their passports valid for at latest two (2) years at the minimum.

The applicants shall:

1. Fill in and submit application form
2. Submit copy of admission letter from the proposed Indonesian higher education institution

6. Submit copy of passport valid for at least 18 months at the minimum

--= VISA ARRANGEMENT (Darmasiswa RI Reguler and Darmasiswa RI Plus Programs)=--

1. To study in Indonesia, the Darmasiswa participant is required to have a social visit visa issued by the Indonesian Embassy in the participant's country of residence.
2. Upon arrival in Indonesia, the Darmasiswa participant's passport has to be submitted to the Bureau of Planning and International Cooperation, Ministry of National Education, for necessary arrangements in obtaining recommendations of the State Secretariat and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

--= VISA ARRANGEMENT (Darmasiswa RI Short Course Program)=--

The selected participants shall apply the Limited Stay Visa/Visa Tinggal Terbatas (VITAS) on this program, acquired in the local Embassy/ Consulate General / Foreign Ministry Office of the Republic of Indonesia after being endorsed by the Directorate General of Immigration, Jakarta. Therefore, participants shall send their copy of passport valid for at least 18 months at the minimum to Bureau of Planning and International Cooperation, Ministry of National Education.

--= The Scholarship Covers=--

1. Exemption on tuition fee.
2. Allowance on living cost of Rp 1.000.000,00 (one milion rupiah).
3. Clothing allowance; a once only payment of Rp 300.000,00 (three hundred thousands rupiah).

--= Airfare Ticket=--

The Government of Republic of Indonesia does not provide the airfare ticket of the participants.

--= Health Insurance=--

The participants are expected to have the international insurance since the organizing committee does not provide it.

About the Scholarship

In Indonesia, the Peace Scholarship Program is managed by the IDP Indonesia office and supported by the University of Canberra.

In 2007 there will be up to two Peace Scholarships available for eligible students in Indonesia to study English in Australia for one semester commencing July 2007.

Students who meet all the eligibility criteria outlined below are invited to apply for the remaining three Peace Scholarships.

Each scholarship is worth up to AU$8,000 and covers:

Where will I study?

The University of Canberra is offering two scholarships to students from Indonesia in 2007.

How do I apply?

STEP 1

Ensure you fulfil each of the selection criteria as detailed below:

# At the time of application you have completed at least three semesters and no more than six semesters of your first full-time undergraduate degree of an accredited course at any university in Indonesia

# You have achieved at least a 65-70% average mark in your degree to date

# You can fulfil the requirements for study abroad at the chosen host institution

# You can preferably gain credit transfer for your study abroad program in Australia for your degree at your home institution

# You have a level of English language proficiency that satisfies both Student Visa requirements for entry to Australia as well as host institution requirements

# You do not hold citizenship or permanent residency in Australia and have not previously studied overseas, either in Australia or elsewhere (unless on a scholarship or to study English)

# You are able to demonstrate a commitment to ‘global peace and understanding’ through community, academic or professional achievements

# You are able to indicate how the Peace Scholarship experience will enhance your professional development and help contribute to global peace and understanding

# You are able to demonstrate a financial need and that without this scholarship you would not have the chance to study overseas

STEP 2:

The following materials must be received by IDP Indonesia by 1 March 2007.

1. Completed, printed and signed application form

2. Completed, printed and signed Agreement of Award Terms and Conditions.

3. Certified true copy of English translated official academic transcript, including current year grades - certified either by an IDP office in the first instance; then Australian diplomatic mission, then university President / Rector / vice-chancellor or faculty dean.

4. Proof of English language ability including IELTS, TOEFL (paper-based or computer-based) or another recognised English language test (note: short-listed students who have not supplied IELTS or TOEFL scores will be required to sit an IELTS exam before their receipt of the scholarship is confirmed)

5. Two References/Testimonials in English

- One reference/testimonial from home institution (Dean or higher). This reference/testimonial must follow the format outlined on the Home Institution Reference Form and address the criteria requested

- One reference/testimonial from someone you have worked with on a particular community service project that you talk about in your application (preferably your supervisor), or from someone who can honestly discuss your involvement in community based activities and projects and who has known you for more than 2 years. This reference/testimonial must follow the format outlined on the Community Leader Reference Form and address the criteria requested.

Note: References cannot be submitted from a person to whom you are related.

What are the selection procedures?

All applications must be received by the Peace Scholarship Representative in Indonesia (details below) by

In Indonesia, there will be 2 steps in the selection process:

1. Home Country Selection Round

All applications submitted to the Peace Scholarship Program will be reviewed by home country selection panels including IDP in-country staff, Australian diplomatic mission staff and industry representatives. This Panel will select students

- according to set standards and procedures implemented worldwide

- according to the quota set by the Peace Scholarship Program; and

- subject to final approval by the Peace Scholarship Program in Australia

2. Australian selection round

Short-listed applications successful in the Home Country Selection Round will be sent to the Peace Scholarship Program for final selection and placement at the participating universities.

Final award of the Peace Scholarship is subject to acceptance into the study abroad program at the selected institution as well as receipt of the appropriate visa to study in Australia.

Scholarship program 2007 from FEEA

The Federal Employee Education & Assistance Fund (FEEA) -- or "FEE-uh" as it's commonly
pronounced -- is the only non-profit organization devoted solely to helping civilian federal and
postal employees. FEEA offers scholarships and emergency financial assistance to civilian federal
and postal employees and their qualifying family members.
FEEA's Scholarship Program is an annual, merit-based contest open to civilian federal and postal
employees, their spouses and college-age children. Awards range from $500-$2,500 for one year.
Approximately 10% of applicants win scholarships each year. Applications are available January -
March each year.

THE DEADLINE TO SUBMIT A 2007-08 SCHOLARSHIP APPLICATION IS MARCH 30, 2007.
FEEA scholarship applications are available from January through March each year.

are due back at FEEA headquarters by the end of March each year (see application for current

Eligibility

* Current civilian federal and postal employees with at least three years of federal service and
their dependent family members (children and spouses)
* Dependent applicants are first eligible to apply during their senior year in high school
* Employee applicants may be part-time students; dependents must be full-time
* Must be enrolled or plan to enroll in an accredited post secondary school in a course of study
that will lead to a two-year, four-year or graduate degree
* Must have at least a 3.0 grade point average on a 4.0 scale

* Complete academic record, including fall semester grades
* Recommendation (character reference)
* List of extracurricular and community service activities
* Essay -- the essay topic changes each year and is printed on the application

Awards

1. All awards are strictly MERIT based; we do NOT consider financial need
2. FEEA scholarship awards are for one year
3. A new complete application is required each year; students may apply each year they remain
in school and continue to meet the eligibility requirements
1. Awards generally range from $500 to $2,500
2. In addition to the FEEA scholarship, some winners may also receive an additional $5,000
FEEA-NTEU Scholarship
1. Awards of more than $500 are paid in two installments -- half in the fall and the balance in
December/January
2. All award checks are made out to the student AND the school and must be deposited into the
student's school account

ORS offers awards to overseas students to encourage high quality research. The scheme (ORSAS) grants awards on a competitive basis to international postgraduate research students of outstanding merit and research potential. Awards are made on academic merit and research potential, and provide the difference between the Home and Overseas rate of tuition fee. An ORS award does not therefore cover the full tuition fee cost, nor does it provide assistance with general living costs.

Who can apply for Overseas Research Students Awards Scheme (ORSAS)?
- International (non-EU) students who have been accepted (conditionally or unconditionally) for admission by the University of Birmingham as a full-time, postgraduate research student for the 2006-7 academic session; or international (non-EU) students who are registered at Birmingham as a full-time, postgraduate research student at the time of application.
- Applicants who have been unsuccessful in previous ORSAS competitions may re-apply.
- Applicants who were offered an ORSAS award in a previous competition but were unable to take it up may re-apply.
- All applicants must be liable to pay tuition fees at the rate for international students.
- Students from EU member states are not eligible for an award because they are not required to pay tuition fees at the full international rate.
- Students undertaking part-time, undergraduate or taught postgraduate courses are not eligible.

Asean Scholarships for Indonesia

The ASEAN Scholarships for Indonesia is tenable for 4 years leading to the
award of the Singapore-Cambridge General Certificate of Education 'Advanced'
(GCE 'A') Level (or equivalent) certificate.

The Scholarship is for studies in selected Singapore schools from Secondary
Three to Pre-University Two and is renewed annually, subject to the satisfactory
performance of the scholar.

Students from Indonesia are welcome to apply for the ASEAN Scholarships for
Indonesia to enter Singapore schools at the Secondary Three level. Candidates
who are not short-listed for the scholarships will be considered for the
Merit Awards.

Goodwill is a registered Indonesian charity (Yayasan) which gives multi-year scholarships to 100+ of the brightest and most needy future leaders. Students are selected from Indonesia's 2 top public universities, the Bogor Agricultural Institute and the University of Indonesia. Our mission is to provide financial assistance, training, care, resources and advice to young Indonesians and in doing so give them a chance to lead and serve their communities and their country.
Goodwill International helps students:

1. improve their life prospects,
2. empower themselves to fulfill their true potential,
3. get the best training and/or education possible,
4. maintain good health and nutrition,
5. establish personal and business values and ethics,
6. find a good and rewarding job or vocation

The scholarship program has now given some 300 or so disadvantaged, bright and motivated students the means to graduate from 2 of Indonesia's leading public universities: the University of Indonesia (UI) or the Bogor Agricultural Institute (IPB). About 250 of them have graduated with a degree.
Awards

The standard annual donation needed to sponsor one student is US$650 or 6,000,000 rupiah. Sponsors are asked to make payment to Goodwill during June and July, ready for Goodwill to start funding the student at the start of term time, orientation and training in August. $650 is enough to pay:

1. the University for a year of student tuition fees;
2. the Student a monthly allowance which must cover their books, materials, food, accommodation, use of computers, and transportation to classes;
3. the Yayasan for its cost of administering of the scheme and organizing the leadership training programme

Eligibility

Goodwill scholarship winners are chosen by virtue only of their need and merit; each student:

1. must be recommended by their University;
2. must have strong academic records;
3. must demonstrate leadership qualities & potential;
4. must have served their local community or worked to support themselves;
5. must need outside financial support if they are to complete their studies.

Leadership training; job hunting

It is the leadership training that makes a Goodwill scholarship different from others, and which past students all agree they found particularly valuable after leaving University . Our Training modules include public speaking, CV writing, job searching, interviewing, team building, leadership styles, business English, and participating in a business game. A number of the most highly motivated Goodwill students put the skills they learn to immediate use, winning University or even National Student competitions. A few are awarded rare one-off scholarships for short study tours to Singapore, Australia & the USA. Over 300 scholarship students have now graduated from their University. Most have found jobs, in itself a considerable achievement given local economic conditions.

New Route PhD

Tuition fee scholarships are available to students starting a New Route PhD programme in September 2007.

The scholarship is a 25% tuition fee reduction per year for 4 years of the degree programme.

Applicants will be informed automatically if they have been awarded a scholarship. Applicants cannot apply for the scholarship before being offered a study place at Sheffield.

Each year, the Monbukagakusho (Ministry of Education, Culture, Sports, Science, and Technology, Government of Japan) offers scholarships to foreign students for (1) research study, (2) professional training, (3) teacher training, (4) Japanese studies and (5) Undergraduate Student Scholarships. The Consulate in Boston provides application opportunities to American citizens living in New England. A brief outline of each type of scholarship is given below. 1. Research Student Scholarships are available to graduate level students wishing to conduct specific research proposals at Japanese universities in the fields of the Humanities, Social Sciences and Natural Sciences. The applications must be received by May 31, 2006.
2. Professional Training Scholarships are available to high school graduates wishing to study at Japanese professional training schools. Services: Management of the off-shore administration of the Indonesia ADS Program which awards 300 scholarships annually. The Program includes assistance to organisations involved in Australian government projects in Indonesia to utilise ADS for their human resource development needs.

Completion: 2006

The goal of the Indonesian ADS Program is to promote human resource development in priority areas determined by the Governments of Indonesia and Australia through the provision of postgraduate training to well-qualified Indonesian students.

IDP manages the administration and coordination of the Program including a capacity building component which involves working with organisations involved with AusAID projects to assist them in utilising ADS for their human resource development needs.

IDP also:

1 Undertakes targeted promotion of scholarship opportunities.
2 Handles the despatch, receipt, and recording of scholarship applications.
3 Convenes and manages a selection team of six Australian academics and six Indonesian academics to undertake short-listing of potential applicants and conduct a joint selection process through interview with each short-listed candidate throughout Indonesia.

Indonesia Scholarship

Through the Indonesia Scholarship Support Project (ISSP) and with funding from the British Council, the AED Center for International Training administered the scholarship of 22 Indonesian scholars enrolled in masters and doctoral programs in the US.

This included monitoring the scholars' academic progress and welfare, maintaining communications with their professors and advisors, and helping them adjust to the U.S. higher education system. The scholars were staff members of the Republic of Indonesia's Ministry of Education participating in the Asian Development Bank-funded Junior Secondary Education Project to strengthen the secondary school system in the country. While in the US, the participants pursued advanced degrees in fields such as educational planning and management, school administration, policy development, classroom-based assessment, curriculum development, and school innovation.

It is pretty exciting and more than a little nerve-wracking. You are already dealing with the pressures of your high school career and they are significant, we know. The process of getting ready, getting into and paying for college is a very big extra project in your already crowded life.

You may be reading this website because you’ve already concluded that you will apply for scholarships. Or, the question of whether or not to apply for scholarships may not have an obvious answer for you yet. Either way, it’s sensible to read our website and get the facts about scholarships as well as the best advice we can offer about how to succeed in winning scholarships.

We will spend time in this website explaining how college funding works, the types of scholarships available, how to find them and how to apply for them. Because scholarship committees award funding to candidates they can understand and relate to and who distinguish themselves from other candidates by their ability to communicate their special-ness.

Beyond the obvious fact that every extra dollar can help you and your family, the scholarship process is also a way to develop the winning skills that will serve you well in whatever you do in your life. The ability to organize, prioritize, write well, match message to audience and most of all, know yourself, are gifts you should give yourself as soon as possible.
